Quality Over Quantity:
I remember when the maintenance workers of the local government of my city, worked in front of my house collecting the waste and cutting the nearby green areas. It was a very hot day and I decided to bring them some bottles of cold water. The lesson that Matthew 10:42 gives us came to my head: ” And whoever gives one of these little ones a glass of cold water only, because he is a disciple, truly I tell you that he will not lose his reward.”. But not because of the fact that he distributed water to the workers, as the disciples offer water in the message, or because he would obtain some reward, but because of the most important message that the scripture leaves us: it is not significant how much you have but how you use it. that you have to help those in need at any given time. It was probably not much I could offer the workers at the time, but a glass of cold water in the middle of that blazing sun, I am sure they would need.
Aware of the need of others, Sharing the little, you earn in abundance:
James 2: 15-16 mentions: “ And if a brother or a sister is naked, and needs maintenance every day, and one of you says to them: Go in peace, be warm and be satisfied, but you do not give them the things that they are necessary for the body, what is the use of it? ” That is, if you are aware of any need for another, regardless of your situation, you must find space to share in what you can, share what little in shortage to honor God, which at the end of the hill already means being, in response, sheltered for your love and care.
Jesus said that what was done to your brother would at least be done to Him: ” And the King answering, will say to them: Truly I tell you that as soon as you did it to one of these my smallest brothers, you did it to me” ( Matthew 25:40). Thus we do good to others and we will consequently be working with good in the Lord.
Investing your gifts:
One of the greatest truths of God is that he has made us unique and endowed us with beautiful gifts that are reflected in our attitudes, talents, abilities and abilities.
When we are able to invest part of them to make a difference, we are speaking through actions about how great is our faith in the Lord. Romans 12: 6 states: “Therefore, having different gifts, according to the grace that is given to us, if that of prophecy, be used according to the measure of faith .” Let us then use our capacities both to reflect the grace of the Lord in us and to return to Him in the measure of our faith, the love that he continually and without limits always gives us.
Let’s make a difference, gradually, using our gifts with detachment for the benefit of those around us. Remember, it’s not about how much you have, it’s about what you do with that which has been provided to you by God.
