Customers with Discover Cards can now use Garmin Pay as a way to pay at checkout

Discover has announced that its cardholders will now be able to make purchases using Garmin Pay while they are on the go.

Garmin Pay is a contactless payment system that was initially made available on the Vivoactive 3 in the latter half of 2017. It was created for consumers who are constantly on the move. The watch features an in-built NFC chip that may save your credit card details for easy access. FitPay is the company responsible for enabling this functionality, and it supports debit and credit cards issued by Visa and MasterCard from a variety of financial institutions.

Since then, the technology has been included in a variety of watches manufactured by Garmin. This includes the series of D2 Delta aviator watches, the series of Vivoactive 3 Music watches, the series of Forerunner 645 watches, the series of Forerunner 645 Music watches, and the series of Fenix 5 Plus watches.

Discover’s other contactless payment solutions, which already include Apple Pay, Android Pay, and FitPay, are now joined by Garmin Pay as well. Users are able to tap and pay with only a few short taps once a Discover card has been connected to the virtual wallet that Garmin provides (through the Garmin Connect).

According to Shaida Lynch, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Discover, “Our goal is to make it as simple and smooth as possible for our cardmembers to pay with their Discover card, including on IoT and wearable devices.” vice president of e-business at Discover. “Consumers are constantly on the go, and our goal is to make it as simple and seamless as possible for them to pay with their Discover card.”

The option to pay with Discover from a user’s Garmin watch may now be accessed with a single tap, even while the user is engaged in activities like jogging or running errands.
