Analogue or hybrid watches are vintage-looking timepieces that conceal advanced tech smarts on the inside. However, most of these gadgets are quite simple, with just a few giving some more advanced functionality. A new hybrid on Kickstarter seeks to change this—it combines a premium design with some fairly outstanding technical specs.
And we’re not kidding. The timepiece boasts a wealth of features, including fitness monitoring, UV radiation tracking, NFC contactless payments, SOS alerts, smart notifications and controls, IFTTT integration, Find My Phone, Control Music/Camera and more. The only thing that looks to be lacking is a built-in heart rate sensor. Power is drawn from a coin cell battery, which stays operating for a full year.
In terms of notifications, the sub-dial of the device serves as a ‘Goal Progression + Activity + UV Meter’. Notification icons are also readable through a 3.5 mm diameter window. Then there is the smartphone app, which reveals your fitness information in more depth, enabling users to adjust the watch, set phone control and get personalized advice.
Just as much emphasis is being paid to aesthetics. The 5 ATM water-resistant clock comes with a sapphire coated mineral glass casing and a choice of two limited editions of 2,182 pieces each. The Muse can be further personalized with replaceable leather and Milanese straps.
Despite some heavy competition from the likes of Garmin and Nokia, the campaign for this unique and ambitious hybrid is going well. With 23 days to go, more than twice the $25,000 required to make it a reality has been banked. Delivery is scheduled for this fall. The usual cautions about crowdfunded projects apply.
