Suunto 9 owners who have viewed the product on Amazon will be pleased to learn that their GPS adventure watch will soon be able to make use of some Firstbeat performance capabilities.
This high-end wearable device, which was released in June 2018, places a special emphasis on its battery life. Depending on how it is used, it has a range of battery life that goes anywhere from 25 to 120 hours, and that is with the GPS tracking turned on. Quite amazing.
Suunto was able to do this by reducing the amount of power required by the GPS by merging the data from the GPS and the motion sensor. In addition to this, you may select from a wide variety of pre-defined battery options.
The clock can keep track of over 80 different types of athletic endeavours thanks to its digital compass, altimeter, accelerometer, and optical heart rate sensor. It is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres. In addition to that, there is complete GPS navigation pre-installed. Performance statistics from Firstbeat are not included, which is a notable omission.
This, however, will no longer be the case with the most recent firmware update (2.9.42), which should already be accessible to all users. It introduces four Firstbeat features for the very first time, including the following:
Vo2Max Fitness Level is a measurement that determines how efficiently your body utilises oxygen when you are engaging in physical activity. It gives an accurate depiction of the individual’s aerobic physical fitness.
This is a measure of how your body reacts to the obstacles that life and its environment provide to it. All Day Stress and Recovery
This tool takes the monitoring of stress levels around the clock to a whole new level. Body Resources It does this by analysing your stress levels, heart rate variability (HRV), the quality of your sleep, and the amount of exercise you get to determine when you should be pushing yourself hard and when you should be resting.
Evaluation of Sleep Quality: This evaluates how well you have slept in terms of your ability to recover.
In addition to the typical bug fixes, the most recent firmware update includes guidance advice for altitude and initial workout in addition to better GPS accuracy.
Downloading and installing Suuntolink is required to bring your Suunto 9 up to date (if you have not previously done so). After that is finished, you will need to link the watch to the desktop and then follow the directions that appear on the screen in order to update it. The companion smartphone app will also notify you whenever a new firmware update is made available to download and install.
