Garmin introduces the Quatix 6X, which includes solar charging

The new Garmin Quatix 6X Solar has been introduced by Garmin. It adds a solar charging display to the original Quatix 6, which helps to extend battery life.

This is a high-end watch designed for those who enjoy boating, fishing, cruising, and sailing. When you look at its feature set, you’ll notice that it’s the marine version of the Fenix 6.

The Quatix 6X Solar, which was announced yesterday, has a few improvements over its predecessor. The capacity to gather energy from the sun is the centerpiece addition, as the name implies.

The watch comes with a translucent solar charging glass that sits on top of the watch face, just like the solar version of the Fenix 6. Garmin refers to the technology as Power Glass. In all battery modes, it adds additional juice. Quatix 6X Solar will last up to 21 days in smartwatch mode, according to the firm. With solar charging, this increases to 24 days, assuming all-day wear and 3 hours per day outside in sunny circumstances.

Other design enhancements are also in the works. The X designation indicates that the edition is larger in size. It’s 51 x 51 x 14.9 mm, rather than the original’s 47 x 47 x 14.7 mm. This enables a larger display, with a diameter of 1.4 inches (280 x 280 pixels), up from 1.3 inches (260 x 260 pixels).

The intriguing thing is that, despite its increased dimensions, the watch’s weight has decreased from 83 to 82 grams. This is due to the fact that the 6X Solar has a titanium bezel rather than a stainless steel one. The watch is also equipped with titanium and silicone bands.

The rest of the features are the same as previously. Comprehensive connectivity, autopilot control, coastal charts, Fusion-link audio system, waypoint marking, the ability to stream data to compatible devices on your boat, and Garmin Sailassist capabilities are all included.

Of course, the device also has fitness and activity tracking capabilities. In fact, it includes all of the Fenix 6’s activity profiles, allowing you to track sports both on and off the water, as well as GPS, a heart rate monitor, and much more.

For $699.99, you can have the original Quatix 6. For the 6X Solar variant, you’ll need significantly deeper pockets. This one costs $1,149 and is currently available for purchase on Garmin’s website.
