In October, Huawei will unveil the Mate smartwatch, which will operate on the Harmony OS

“Mate Watch” has been registered as a trademark by Huawei. This appears to be a continuation of the Mate line of phones and other goods. According to reports, the smartwatch will run on Harmony OS and will be released in October.

The Mate series began in 2013 with the launch of the first smartphone. Since then, about a dozen other smartphones, as well as Mate-branded desktops and tablets, have been produced. Huawei is now working on expanding the range even further.

The Chinese company registered a trademark for “Huawei Mate Watch” at the beginning of May. The China National Intellectual Property Administration received it (CNIPA). A screenshot of the application with the number 46028164b can be found below. This comes after the company registered the term “Mate Pod” earlier this year, which is rumored to be the name for its headphones or a smart speaker series.

Huawei is planning to release a smartwatch as part of its Mate range.

Huawei’s current smartwatch lineup includes the Watch and Watch GT models. The Watch GT 2e is the most recent addition to this list. In March, it was released alongside the company’s new flagship model, the P40. The specifications are quite comparable to those of the Watch GT 2, released in October. The sporty style and incorporation of a blood oxygen monitoring feature are the primary differences.

Since then, the firm has published a software update that allows the SpO2 function to be used on both the Watch GT2 and the Band 4. This confirms that the essential hardware was previously included in last year’s wearables; it was only a matter of activating it.

Is the trademark a sign that Huawei is about to drop the GT line? Perhaps. A recent Tweet from Slashleaks contributor @Rodent950 provided further proof of this. He claims that the watch will be the first to run Harmony OS. This is Huawei’s proprietary software that serves as an alternative to Android. To refresh your memory, the corporation began working on it after its formal cooperation with Google came to an end.

It’s anyone’s guess when it comes to a prospective release date. It’s probable that the smartwatch will be unveiled at the Mate 40 series’ debut. According to the leaker, this will happen on October 1st, which is Chinese National Day. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the new timepiece before then.
