It's great to have you back, Withings! Nokia has decided to sell off its struggling health sector

It’s been a while, but one of the much-loved pioneers of the world of wearable technology has returned. Nokia will sell back to Éric Carreel, the co-founder and former chairman of Withings, its health division, which hasn’t been doing well for the company.

There were a number of parties, including Google Nest and Samsung, that had expressed interest in purchasing the division. Due in part to the efforts that the country is making to strengthen its footprint in AI, the French government has been advocating for a sale that would return the company to a French owner. In 2016, Nokia Health completed the acquisition of the Withings health brand, but it is now abundantly evident that the purchase was not successful since sales did not match the growth objectives that were set.

The news that was announced today substantiates the return of the Withings brand. The company is going to keep selling Nokia health goods until the relaunch of the Withings brand, which is expected to take place before the end of the year.

And who can say for sure? It’s possible that the now-defunct Pulse Wave Velocity will be reintegrated into the company’s top-tier intelligent scale. Nokia took away the feature at the beginning of this year because it was hard for them to follow the rules. This made owners very sad.

Additionally, the company intends to introduce brand new product lines.

Eric Carreel has said that from now on, we need to put our efforts into making tools and services that can help prevent long-term health problems.

With the technology we have now, we can think of solutions that could make the lives of millions of people better. Our goal at Withings is to be at the forefront of technological innovation and the creation of designs that are easy to use.

The implication of this is not totally obvious. But it looks like the company is looking beyond fitness trackers and smart scales to deal with more serious health problems.

I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with the talented teams that have been instrumental in the tremendous success of the brand. Carreel added.

As we continue to push the boundaries of connected health, we are going to face an exciting challenge.
