Soon, former members of the United States armed forces will have access to Apple's health records

As a result of Apple’s collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the company has announced that its Health Records feature will soon be made available to veterans in the United States.

This morning, the Cupertino organization shared the news about the acquisition in a blog post. It says that soon, U.S. veterans who get medical care from the Veterans Health Administration will be able to look at all of their medical information on their smartphones.

To fill in the blanks for those who don’t know, Apple Health Information lets patients combine their own data with health records from other institutions. It goes without saying that this offers them a more comprehensive perspective on their overall health. The number of hospitals and companies that sell medical records that are subscribing to the service continues to rise.

Soon, veterans from all around the United States will be able to access their medical records from the collaborating hospitals. A wide variety of information, such as allergies, conditions, vaccines, laboratory results, prescriptions, treatments, vital statistics, and more, will be available to them when they log in. Every piece of information stored in the Health Records app is scrambled, and only the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID can decrypt it.

Veterans will be able to make better informed decisions regarding their health thanks to the new functionality. In addition to this, users have the ability to verify the accuracy of their medical information.

According to Jeff Williams, the Chief Operating Officer of Apple, “When patients have better access to their health information, they are able to have more productive dialogues with their physicians.”

“We anticipate that by making medical records accessible on the iPhone to patients of the VA, veterans will have the ability to take advantage of improved treatment, which will result in an improvement in the overall quality of their lives.”

The Veterans Association will be the first organization to make this kind of platform available, and it will be the Health Records app for the iPhone. On a nationwide scale, the organization serves medically qualified former service members of the armed forces at 1,243 locations across the United States.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, was quoted as saying that the company has “great admiration for veterans” and that the company is “glad to deliver a solution like Health Records on the iPhone to the veteran community.”

It is a tremendous privilege to be able to make a contribution toward the better medical care of the brave men and women who serve their country.
