The upcoming firmware upgrade for the Amazfit GTS and GTR helps alleviate GPS difficulties

The sluggish GPS positioning speed and erroneous readings have both been addressed in a new software update for the Amazfit GTS and the Amazfit GTR smartwatches.

The following firmware versions have been issued by Huami: for the Amazfit GTR 47mm, for the Amazfit GTR 42mm, and for the Amazfit GTR 42mm (Amazfit GTS). At the moment, these are only available in China, but we have high hopes that they will soon become available in other countries as well.

This update focuses on fixing difficulties that were occurring with the GPS signal. A few months ago, we did reviews on both the GTR and the GTS, and we found that both of them are excellent smartwatches that offer a lot of bang for the buck. The first is a fantastic device for tracking your day-to-day activity and comes with a variety of useful features, like notifications, control over the weather, and management of your music library. The second option is a watch that is very similar to the Apple Watch and features an exceptional battery life.

Nevertheless, during our testing, both watches experienced delays in acquiring the GPS signal and had accuracy concerns with the GPS function. At other times, nothing seems to be working properly, but other times it does. This was our primary point of contention with the products. This update to the software should, at least in theory, assist in resolving this issue.

In previous versions, the primary focus was on enhancing various types of functionality. The update that came out in December included the capability to install personalized watch faces. Even though the functionality of the customisation can only be used to alter the background image, you are still able to create a variety of watch faces. A new update was released a couple of weeks ago, which included some minor bug fixes as well as the addition of a screen timeout feature for the Always-on Display.

2019 was a very busy year for Huami, and it appears that the pace will not let up any time soon. The Amazfit T-Rex and Amazfit Bip S smartwatches, together with smart earphones and a treadmill, were among the products that the company introduced at CES 2020. Additionally, the company is getting ready to launch an Indiegogo campaign for the Amazfit X fitness band, which has a very futuristic appearance.
