With a Healthy Increase in Specifications but a Two-Year-Old Chip, Mobvoi Introduces the TicWatch C2

Today, at a gathering in London, Mobvoi revealed the TicWatch C2. The company’s second smartwatch features Wear OS and a significant increase in specifications; however, it still uses the outdated Snapdragon Wear 2100 CPU.

The impending device has been the subject of numerous rumors. On October 22, Mobvoi teased via social media that it might introduce a new smartwatch, but nothing came of it. It doesn’t really matter if it was caused by a misinterpretation of their tweet or something else. Smartwatches are now a reality.

With a healthy increase in specifications but a two-year-old chip, Mobvoi introduces the TicWatch C2.

The 42.83mm x 42.83mm TicWatch C2 is available in black, silver, and rose gold case colors. A 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a 360 360 pixel resolution is standard across all variants. The models in black and silver have a 20 mm strap and a depth of 13.1 mm. The rose gold version, which has an 18mm strap and is 12.8mm in thickness, is designed for somewhat smaller wrists. All models have stainless steel edges and fronts, while plastic is used for the back.

The interior specifications have seen a nice improvement. The watch has 4GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. A heart rate sensor is included in the standard fitness tracking technology. The C2 variant also includes an integrated GPS and NFC for Google Wallet.

Mobvoi’s transition to Google’s Wear OS is another significant step. The Ticwear OS, developed by the firm, was utilized in earlier TicWatch devices. Users will now be able to take advantage of thousands of standalone apps as a result of this. Google Assistant is also pre-installed on the C2 to respond to any urgent enquiries.

The good news, however, ends here. Sadly, Mobvoi continues to employ the outdated Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip rather than the more energy-efficient Wear 3100. Therefore, the 400 mAh battery can only go for about two days without recharging.

Also not very outstanding is water resistance. The C2 can withstand dust and the occasional splash, but swimming with it is not recommended.

Both the Mobvoi and Amazon websites allow for the purchase of the watch.
