Benefits of Drinking Water

Isn’t water your thing? If you are looking for motivation to start consuming more fluids, you have reached the right place. We present only 20 benefits of the many that water consumption has for your health and well-being in general.

For something throughout your life you have heard that you should drink at least eight glasses of water a day, when the river sounds, stones carry …

BENEFITS OF DRINKING WATER FOR YOUR WELL-BEING

1. WATER HELPS YOUR KIDNEYS

The body’s main toxin, blood urea nitrogen, passes through your kidneys, this is a water-soluble waste that is excreted in the urine. This means that you need enough water in your body for this process to be carried out correctly.

“Your kidneys do an incredible job of cleaning. When you’re getting enough fluids, your urine is free-flowing, clear in color, and odor-free. When the body doesn’t get enough fluids, urine concentration, color, and odor increase because the kidneys trap extra fluid for bodily functions, “explained nephrologist Steven Guest for WebMD.

The specialist doctor also added that chronically low fluid intake is associated with a higher risk of kidney stones, especially in hot climates.

2. MAINTAINS BODY TEMPERATURE

This is an especially important benefit for our readers who love exercise or who live in warm places. Hydration is crucial to maintain your body temperature!

Your body loses water through sweat during physical activity and in hot environments. That sweating works as a mechanism to keep your body cool, but your body temperature will rise if you don’t replace the water you lose. Why is this happening? What happens is that your body loses electrolytes and plasma when it is dehydrated, that is why if you are sweating more than usual, you should drink a lot of water.

3. HELPS TO HAVE A HEALTHY AND BEAUTIFUL SKIN

Drinking water throughout the day allows your body to sweat, which opens your pores and cleanses your skin.

“DEHYDRATION MAKES THE SKIN LOOK DRIER AND MORE WRINKLED, WHICH CAN BE IMPROVED WITH PROPER HYDRATION,” EXPLAINS DERMATOLOGIST KENNETH ELLNER FOR WEBMD.

Drinking water frees excess dirt and acts as a natural moisturizer for the skin, giving it that glow we all want.

4. PROTECTS THE SPINAL CORD AND OTHER SENSITIVE TISSUES

This and the following benefit could be overlooked by the others that we have shared, but they are indispensable in your daily life. Let’s see why …

The spinal cord transmits to the brain all the stimuli that we receive, such as temperature or flavors, that is, it connects us with our environment, allows us to perceive and enjoy the world. For its part, water lubricates and cushions this structure of the central nervous system and other tissues.

5. LUBRICATES AND CUSHIONS THE JOINTS

Joints such as knees or elbows also play a key role, joining the bones of the body so that we can move freely and constantly. Drinking water helps lubricate and cushion these joints so you can enjoy exercising and lessen discomfort caused by conditions like arthritis.

6. WATER CAN HELP CONTROL CALORIES

At this point the first thing to clarify is that water does not have any magical effect on weight loss, what does work is to increase your consumption to put aside sugary drinks that provide many calories.

“Choose water over a caloric drink and eat foods rich in water because they are healthier, fill more, and help you reduce calorie intake” Penn State, author of The Volumetrics Weight Control Plan.

Foods with high water content tend to look larger, their size makes it necessary to chew them more, in addition, they are slowly absorbed by the body, which gives a feeling of fullness. Some of these foods are fruits, vegetables, broth-based soups, oatmeal, and beans.

7. AMONG THE BENEFITS OF DRINKING WATER IS PREVENTING CONSTIPATION

Good hydration ensures that everything flows throughout your gastrointestinal tract, thus helping to prevent constipation. Water helps waste particles dissolve and passes them smoothly through the digestive tract. On the contrary, if you are dehydrated, your body draws water from the stool to maintain hydration, leaving the colon dry and making it more difficult to pass waste.

8. CARRIES NUTRIENTS AND OXYGEN TO CELLS

Consuming enough water daily will improve your circulation and have a positive impact on your overall health, as water carries valuable nutrients and oxygen throughout your body.

9. NORMALIZES BLOOD PRESSURE

No doubt! There is a relationship between water consumption and blood pressure. Patients with abnormalities in blood pressure can use a large glass of this fluid to help regulate their pressure. This was confirmed by researchers from the Vanderbilt Center for Autonomic Dysfunction, who reported that water has a powerful effect of increasing or increasing blood pressure.

10. STABILIZES THE HEARTBEAT

And when blood pressure is working properly the benefits are directly reflected in the heart.

“I think it’s pretty clear from a lot of different studies that a small reduction in blood pressure, done consistently, can have a big impact on reducing cardiovascular disease and stroke, ” Dr. Robert M. Carey told the American Heart Association.

11. ELIMINATES BACTERIA FROM THE BLADDER

Generally speaking, drinking plenty of water every day keeps your bladder active and bacteria-free. And if you particularly have a urinary infection, it is even more important that you drink plenty of water during and after treatment because every time you urinate, your bladder cleanses a little more.

12. DRINKING WATER FREQUENTLY PROTECTS ORGANS

Drinking the recommended amount of water makes the liver, kidneys, digestive and immune systems perform their functions very well. A balanced consumption of this liquid can reduce the risk of developing diseases in these organs.
