Xiaomi is one of those firms that takes care of both the quality of its phones and that of its software . MIUI has been growing with us for a few years , and quite a few users have it as the best Asian layer, for performance, stability and design.
MIUI recently released its eighth version, and not a few users are willing to install it on their terminal. If you do not want to wait for the OTA, do not miss this tutorial , since we are going to teach you how to install MIUI 8 officially on your device.
The first (and only thing you need) is a Xiaomi Redmi 3 or a Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro. Forget about drivers, computers and tools , we are going to do it all from the same phone. You should make sure to make a backup, since the process will erase your data, unless you come from a Dev ROM .
This is another important point, you need to make sure you have a China Stable or Developer ROM , otherwise we cannot assure you that this method will work. The first thing is to know the ROM you have, which you can check in the settings of your phone.
Below, you will find the necessary steps to update your Xiaomi Redmi 3 or Redmi 3 Pro to MIUI 8 :
- Download the latest developer version from the en.miui page
- Once downloaded, rename the zip to update.zip
- Put it in the root folder of the memory of your Redmi 3 or Redmi 3 Pro
- Go to settings , about phone , system updates
- In this menu look for the option to choose update package and select the update.zip
You should bear in mind that this process will erase all your data except the multimedia, in case you come from a Stable ROM . Be sure to keep your content safe. Once this is done, you will be able to enjoy MIUI 8. It is a developer version , and it is updated every week by OTA .
Say that we have tried it and that we have not found a single bug , despite being such a modern version. The battery works the same or better than in the stable versions of MIUI 7, the performance is much smoother and the redesign is quite careful.
