The Honor 10 is now official, and it’s just what we expected. The Huawei subsidiary has just presented in China its new flagship for the first half of 2018, destined to compete with the best of the market based on an updated design and adapted to the times, a technical section of category, and a photographic system that relies on artificial intelligence.
And yes, before you think about it, I already say it: the Honor 10 looks a lot like the Huawei P20 that we met not too many weeks ago, and the last thing about Honor is based on the current Huawei star device. Therefore, it is not surprising that we find details shared between both terminals. Without further ado, we go on to see all the details of the new Honor 10 , a top of range coming from China that wants to be placed against the ropes to the conventional high range.
Honor 10, all the information
Design and display: glass, notch and fingerprint reader under the screen
At the design level, the Honor 10 is very similar to the Huawei P20. Both models use glass and aluminum as manufacturing materials, although the new Honor phone hides the odd differential detail, and lacks features such as water resistance.
The first, and probably the most interesting, is the existence of a fingerprint reader under the screen glass. Although the surface of the sensor is located at the same point as in the case of the Huawei P20, the reader itself is located under the glass, thus avoiding the existence of a protuberance dedicated to this button.
The similarities between the Honor 10 and the Huawei P20 in terms of design are more than obvious: the bright glass is repeated on the back, and the front with notch and fingerprint reader, which now goes under the glass.
As for colors, it will be possible to acquire the terminal in four different tones, each one more striking: they will be black, teal, blue, “wave” and violet . These last two show an iridescent finish, which changes color depending on the angle, just as we saw in the Huawei P20 and its Midnight finish.
The front part houses a large 5.84-inch panel , which uses LTPS technology and, in a nutshell, is the same screen that we can find in the Huawei P20 Lite . This means that its resolution is Full HD +, with 2,240 x 1,080 pixels, and a 19: 9 format. Honor ensures that the panel is capable of exceeding 500 nits of brightness.
Technical section: Kirin 970 and NPU that bring Android 8.1 to life
In the same way as its older brothers, the Honor 10 is based on the Kirin 970 platform , with eight cores and a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz. Next to it, we find a dedicated processing unit, responsible for carrying out the tasks High computational load as the AI modes built into the camera.
Supporting the processor we find 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of non-expandable storage . In terms of battery, 3,400 mAh will be responsible for giving the device the necessary power to run Android in its 8.1 edition, customized by EMUI 8.1.
Photography and multimedia: three cameras totaling 60 megapixels
At the photographic level, the Honor 10 maintains the rear photographic system formed by two sensors that we already found in the previous generation. However, the brand bets on this occasion for artificial intelligence, baptizing the system as AI Cam.
Specifically, we find two 16 and 24 megapixel sensors, each with f / 1.8 aperture . They are equipped with machine- based systems designed, among other things, to stabilize the captures and videos due to the lack of an optical stabilizer, as well as the recognition of scenes and objects to automatically modify the parameters and capture the perfect photograph.
Although this time we did not find the signature of the prestigious company Leica, Honor does not neglect the photographic section and relies on artificial intelligence .
Honor, in addition, bets on a “Semantic Image Segmentation” system, thanks to which the different objects and areas of the captured image are optimized individually, thus achieving a better overall quality.
On the front, a single 24 megapixel sensor will take care of the selfies , with excellent quality if we take into account what we have already seen in the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. Again we find different AI-based systems, although no trace of an LED flash to accompany our night self-portraits.
And without even leaving the multimedia section, many will be glad to know that Honor has not neglected the audio section of their last star phone . Not only will we not miss the 3.5mm headphone port, but we will enjoy a dedicated audio chip AK4376A 7.1 Hi-Fi.
